SANUK MEANS FUN AND FROLIC IN THAI!!

All of Melbourne is invited to join the Thai Community at the 5th annual Thai Culture and Food Festival from 10am to 9pm on Sunday March 2nd 2008 at Federation Square.

Special features of the 5th Annual Festival will be:

  • The Festival is a partner event of the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival
  • Performances of Thai dance, music, kickboxing, beauty contest and Thai Silk fashion parade throughout the day on the main stage. and much, much more
  • SINGHA BEER GARDEN with live performances and bands midday – 9pm
  • Interactive Thai cooking demonstrations

The Festival will begin with a traditional blessing by monks, and an opening ceremony performed by Cnr John So, Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Dr Simon Wallace Honorary Thai Consul General – Victoria and the Thai Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Khun Bandhit Sotipalalit

Federation Square will be transformed into a haven of Thai culture with booths show casing Thai arts and crafts, Thai tourism and information about Thailand and its peoples. There will be continuous entertainment on the main stage with performances of traditional Thai dance, Thai kickboxing, a beauty contest and a fashion parade featuring Thai silks.

The riverbank side of Fed Square will be bedecked with tents featuring 20 of Melbourne’s Thai restaurants serving Thai delicacies, highlighting regional food specialities at the amazing price of $7 per dish, as well as desserts and drinks. The Singha Beer Garden will house a second sound stage featuring live music and entertainment all day long

Guides in Thai dress will be available to answer questions about Thailand and the activities of the day.
